Oleificio Toscano Morettini is among the most advanced companies in the national panorama for the production, packaging and marketing of extra virgin olive oil.
A key element in the oil mill’s success is its fortunate location in the heart of the Valdichiana, on rolling hills characterized by favorable soil and climatic conditions.
the history
The SuprEvo project is the most successful example of an entrepreneurial story that began back in 1950.
After World War II, Armando Morettini obtained a licence to trade in food products and quickly gained unanimous praise, especially for the high quality of his Tuscan olive oil. Over the years, the Morettini company began to specialise in the production, bottling and sale of extra virgin olive oil, characterised by its ability to select the finest olives and to collaborate with some of the best mills in the region and in central Italy. This growth culminated in 1985 with the founding of the Oleificio Toscano Morettini and in 1988 with the inauguration of the current plant in Monte San Savino (AR), crowning the transition from a small home-based business to a solid company in the food sector.
Today the Morettini brand is synonymous with Tuscan and Italian olive oil excellence, with its extra virgin olive oil distributed in markets all over the world through commercial relationships with countries in Europe and other continents: from Brazil to the United States, from China to Japan. The true secret behind this expansion is its ability to combine tradition and innovation, by paying meticulous attention to each stage of production, which is driven by the desire to offer consumers a premium quality oil that strikes a harmonious balance between all its flavours. These characteristics have brought on board many prestigious partners: Oleificio Morettini has been a supplier to Inter since 1989, it has been chosen for the kitchens of illustrious chefs such as Alessandro Borghese, and has been chosen by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation for the production of the 2016 Jubilee Oil.
The morettini
family
A passion for olive oil that has been passed on from generation to generation. The secrets that lie behind the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil have been handed down over the decades by the Morettini family, which has combined the ancient skills of master millers with a forward-looking business approach that has allowed it to keep up with the times and adapt to market demands.
Armando’s skills, constantly supported by his wife Elvia, were acquired by his son Lauro, who joined the company in 1978. Together with his brother Minolfo, Lauro promoted new ideas, new enthusiasm and new commercial prospects that have fostered the success of Oleificio Morettini on national and international markets. The family’s entrepreneurial skills have also been recognised by the awarding of the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic), the most important distinction in the professional field, which was awarded to Armando in 1990 and to Lauro in 2015.
A new step forward was taken with the advent of the third generation, with Giovanni and Alberto joining their father Lauro at the helm of the company and facilitating some important transactions to consolidate the brand and create further scenarios of development. These include the modernisation and the doubling of the Monte San Savino plant to increase production lines, the inauguration of the first super-intensive plant with 10,000 trees farmed using the latest technology, the acquisition of the San Gimignano Oil Mill and the implementation of the SuprEvo project to achieve, recount and spread the perfection of extra virgin olive oil.

The educational and tourism project led by the Morettini family is also witnessed at the San Gimignano Oil Mill. The production purpose of this historic facility has been complemented by a path of discovery of extra virgin olive oil through the setting up of an innovative Interactive Tour that was inaugurated in the summer of 2022 and is developed through a curious and exciting interactive path designed to take visitors of all ages on a journey through time and space among stories, anecdotes and tales.
Technologies, animations and experiences tell all about the culture and cultivation of extra virgin olive oil, from the plant to the table. The opportunity to walk through the production sites, engage with the olive millers and admire the machinery is supported by the presence of interactive panels and state-of-the-art technological installations to offer playful and educational experiences that, designed for visitors and school groups, involve all five senses. The sight, hearing and touch of the guided tour join the taste and smell of the tastings of extra virgin olive oil and other oil-based products offered by the shop, allowing visitors to symbolically experience the entire olive cycle, from plant to table.
