A child-friendly

SuprEvo offers an engaging experience for all ages. Special attention is paid to the youngest children who can experience the excitement of getting to know Olli, the museum's cute mascot olive who accompanies them through the different stages of the visit to entertain them and to make the educational experience engaging thanks to many experiences enriched with fun trivia, insights, discoveries and questions.

the tour

1. Olive tree

The tour of SuprEvo opens with an artistic tribute to the olive tree: a sculpture by Andrea Roggi, a contemporary artist who celebrates the beauty and richness of this tree, introducing visitors to the detailed description of its parts. Between panels and display niches, the first space reveals the various types of olive trees, the elements of the plant and the fruit, the dangers to their well-being and preservation, and the characteristics of the wood, with an in-depth study that can continue in the outdoor garden.

2. Oil and olive tree in history

The visit becomes multimedia, with a journey through time and space through the projection of a video that recounts the evolution of the link between man and the plant over the centuries. The images lead from Palestine in 5,000 B.C. to the spread of cultivation by the Greeks, from the Etruscans to Italy's production supremacy, and on to the 1900s boom linked to the success of the Mediterranean diet.

3. Territory

The Valdichiana is among the areas of excellence in Italy and the world for the production of extra virgin olive oil. The third area of SuprEvo illustrates the characteristics of this area, its soils and olive groves, through a touch table containing maps, display cases, graphics and drawings. A multimedia window that virtually overlooks the valley also allows visitors to discover the behavior of olive trees in the four seasons.

4. Company

Having known the olive tree and olives, SuprEvo takes visitors into the heart of production through a presentation of the work carried out by Oleificio Toscano Morettini since the distant 1950s. Texts, anecdotes and photos illustrate the history of the company and the Morettini family, allowing visitors to delve into the development of the company and the olive sector over the decades, in collaboration with industry bodies and consortia.

5. Tools

Here is the first stop on the real exhibition tour. This wing of the museum brings together tools and machinery used in the various stages of work from after World War II to the present. Capping machines, scales, nets and burlap sacks, antique carts and small items for pruning-these and many other tools of yesterday and today can be observed and learned about with the support of precise captions.

6. Containers

The visit continues with a section dedicated to extra virgin olive oil containers. This corner is enhanced by educational panels with testimonies and stories from the past showing Greek amphorae, Etruscan jars, stuffed demijohns from the 1800s, early 1900s tins, and modern glass bottles with shapes and graphics that define the identity of the product.

7. Past and present days’ production

A circular arena transports the visitor to the places of production among olive groves and olive presses. A film is projected around the entire circumference of the room for a 360-degree immersion in the landscape of the Valdichiana and the narrated setting: the visitor feels as if he or she can converse with the projected characters, three generations of producers, to be guided through a unique and exciting tale among all the stages of an olive oil farm.

8. Oil

Knowledge of extra virgin olive oil comes through experience. "Biochemistry," "Labels," "Health," "Recipes," and "Cosmetics"-this room allows you to learn more about the product in a fun and interactive way among graphics, activities, touch screens, and multimedia tables referring to these five different themes that also offer focus on the benefits to the body and the richness of Mediterranean cuisine.

9. Essences

Every drop of extra virgin olive oil expresses a world of ever new flavors, aromas and scents to be discovered with all the senses. The visit continues with a sensory corner dedicated to the sense of smell in which to delve into the organoleptic properties and merits of this product, with a series of cans that give off certain scents: learning about them is a tasty exercise in preparation for the final tasting.

10. Mill

The museum tour ends with a visit to the places of production and a comparison of past and present. The arrival at an old oil mill from the 1800s with a stone millstone and press is followed by entry into the 4.0 oil mill designed and built by Oleificio Morettini with state-of-the-art technologies and working methods for full digital control of every stage of olive processing.
